ABC issued an update to its Watch ABC channel on the Apple TV today. The channel now allows all users to watch the latest episodes of their favorite shows, without the need to login through a cable provider, as was previously required.
Of course, you won’t be able to jump in and start watching the newest episode the day after it airs. As was the case with the previous version of the channel, episodes are only made available one week after they’ve aired.
The update also introduces a new continuous play mode similar to the one found on the Netflix channel, and a new design that puts the latest episodes of popular shows front-and-center. The full press release detailing the changes is included below.
You should start seeing the updated Watch ABC channel on your Apple TV once it downloads and applies the automatic update over the air.
All Apple TV Viewers Can Now Access Full Episodes A Week After They Air
Beginning today, WATCH ABC on Apple TV will provide all users with access to full episodes a week after they air including “Scandal,” “How to Get Away With Murder,” “Modern Family,” black-ish,” “Once Upon A Time” and “Castle,” among others. Sign in is required for live streaming of ABC’s owned stations and the network’s most current episodes on demand. The WATCH ABC app on Apple TV has also been updated with a new bolder, immersive look and feel, more short- form video and continuous play mode.
WATCH ABC lets fans watch current episodes of their favorite ABC shows anytime, anywhere on their desktop, smartphone, tablet or connected TV devices. Viewers who subscribe to a participating pay TV service can watch the most recent episode the next day and those in Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham and San Francisco can also watch a live 24- hour feed of the network. Disney/ABC Television Group currently has deals with the following pay TV providers: Comcast, Cablevision, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, DISH, Midcontinent Communications, Verizon FiOS, Google Fiber and AT&T U-verse, among others.

I don’t know what they mean by “ALL” Apple TV users, but those of us outside the US are blocked out. Figures.
One week after it airs. They really couldn’t try harder to encourage torrenting, could they?
Competing with and even mostly beating piracy is possible…they just have to put forth any effort, at all.
You mean to tell me that you can’t find anything else to watch that you would Torrent a show instead of just wait one week for the show to be on for free? I seriously doubt anyone who is so pathetic as to torrent a show instead of simply watch it streamed from ABC’s/Hulu’s website even has an Apple TV.
But what about us in the U.K. we have no choice as ABC is not shown over here for some reason. Gee we are even seasons out here in the UK, things like NCIS, CSI, etc hence we have no choice but to have to torrent. Yes I would wait a week for an episode and I get your point but I won’t wait a y season to catch up here in the UK.ear for a
sorry my apple keyboard seems to be on a go slow hence the mistakes at end. I tend to type quicker than this damn keyboard can cope with. arghhh
One week after it airs for all users, a day after it airs for cable subscribers, as well as a day after it airs for Hulu subscribers. Meh, not bad.
