Some might write off Apple Watch’s ability to share your heartbeat as gimmicky, but these new parents have found a truly heartwarming use for it— to share their newborn’s heartbeat with family that weren’t able to make the occasion in person.
“Our first child was born and we used an Apple Watch Sport to send his heartbeat to our distant family members it was a really awesome experience that we couldn’t have done without the Apple Watch.”

Isn’t the heart beat too slow for a new born baby?? Or does the animation not reflect the frequency?
Babygate?
Maybe it’s just not placed correctly against the baby’s arm… just done for cuteness..?:)
The animation reflects it exactly, as does the sound from the speaker.
The father is actually sending his own heartbeat, not the baby’s.
I wonder if it would work if they put the baby’s fingers on the Apple Watch screen?
Pediatrician here
NO WAY that is the babies heartbeat, that pulse is 80-90 at most. Any heart rate under 100 and that kid would require positive pressure ventilation.
That is an adult heart rate not a newborn
Yeah sorry.
Really don’t wanna be a buzz kill. But as a new parent, I was under the impression that an infants heart beat is closer to twice what an adults is.
Also as a new Apple watch owner, again sorry buzz kill here.
Try taking off the watch and send a “heart beat”. Strange how it still sends one without any pulse to measure.
Sorry to ruin the magic. Really cool story, but us tech folk thrive on facts.
The one it sends is your previously measured heart beat. you notice that when you go to the heart rate, it’ll tell you the last time it got your heart rate/beat. Take the watch off and it utilizes the old one.
To do this heartbeat transfer, don’t both the sender and receiver both need the Apple Watch? HEY! How did all their distant family members all happen to score an Apple Watch?!?
of course the heartbeat sensor is calibrated to adults and not to newborn babies. also he is not holding it at the babies wrist… but its a nice gesture to send the (not so precise) heartbeat of a newborn to relatives…
