While iOS 8.4 users have been able to try out the new Apple Music service since this morning, developers running the latest iOS 9 beta seed have been left out. This will change “early next week,” however, according to Apple Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue. In a reply to a user on Twitter, Cue said that a new beta of iOS 9 will be available next week with Apple Music integration:
Cue has not been shy as of late on Twitter when it comes to Apple Music, sharing key feature details and announcing payments to artists during the three month free trial period via the social network. Following the Tweets related to the new iOS 9 build, Cue clarified that users can “easily” opt out from paying for Apple Music online and that the bitrate quality is dependent on the type of wireless connection.

When will Apple Music come out for the Apple TV?
In fall
No preferences for that?
It was a shame seeing so many people with developer builds comment like they entitled and upset no new beta was released. I read commenter say” They better release it today or else”. Really! Anyway, Apple has always released betas every other week. This being an off week meant it was pretty likely that beta 3 wasn’t coming. That being said, I noticed if you download Apple Music from a 8.4 device it can be played on iOS 9 beta 2.
How do you get the app from iOS 8.4 to iOS 9?
But seriously non devs complaining about a consumer feature not being in a build for a week is pretty bad. It’s possible that the next build will also have a public release, which would make sense that Apple music be included. Everyone who wasn’t using their device to develop should have at least waited for that.
How much is the bitrate in any case? how many MBs are downloaded for 1hr stream of Beats1 or music?
115MB if Im doing the math correctly. 265kbs x 60 sec x 60 min = 921600kb which is 115MB
256*
I Don’t understand it, iOS 8.4 have already Apple Music, and iOS9 don’t.
You don’t need a music streaming service to test your apps. Merging code can produce bugs. I’m sure they didn’t want to deal with that while trying to get the public release out the door.
It’s possible the public beta will be out along with iOS 9 beta 3 next week. It makes sense that they would wait for the public facing beta to include the consumer feature.
What if your app is a playlist migration utility?
Lower bitrate on cellular.
Nice of him to comment on it and end any inane discussion of when when when.
I’m confused….iTunes Match/iCloud Music has never been lower bitrate on cellular….you either have enough bandwidth to stream 256 Kbps or you don’t. Is this a NEW development with low bitrate streaming?
Does it have to do with beats one being “live”? Maybe before they could just buffer and start your stream whenever but now maybe they want to be able to start playing as close to real time as possible.
