Two weeks after the release of the second beta of iOS 9 and a week after the launch day of Apple Music, Apple has released iOS 9 beta 3 to developers. The update is available to iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users via Apple’s developer portal on the web and via an OTA rollout. The beta carries the build number 13A4293g.
iOS 9 will be released in the fall, although a public beta will be available later this month. The update includes a variety of under-the-hood fixes, as well as new features like Proactive search, Transit in Apple Maps, and a new Notes application. The update also includes new features for the iPad that further hint at the launch of a larger-screened iPad Pro.
Eddy Cue announced on Twitter that iOS 9 users would need a new seed of the beta to access Apple Music and beta 3 does in fact activate the service for users. Two weeks ago, beta 2 brought about minor interface tweaks and refreshes, as well as minor feature enhancements. iOS 9 beta 2 carried some support for Apple Music, but it was partial and only accessible via Siri.
Last month, we broke down some of the features in iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Capitan and noted some improvements Apple could make to the functionality of the features before launch later this year.
– Apple Music is now available
– Apple News is now included, hands-on gallery here
– New icons when swiping left or right on a message in Mail
– Siri no longer makes her classic “ding” sound when activated
– New folders in Photos for selfies and screenshots
– Folders on the iPad are 4×4 (Thanks Jeffery!)
– New Calendar icon appears in search (Thanks, Parth!)

I have been developing for apple since iOS 4 and I think the more the merrier. The more developers the better the software.

I’m not a developer, but I’m impatient. I’ve been using the dev betas for three years. Will I ever complain about issues brought on by my own impatience? No. Do I think the addition of features in iOS 9 are worth a few of my apps breaking. Yes. It’s a tradeoff. There’s always issues, but if you’re using a developer beta on your daily device, keep in mind that the issues you are experiencing are your fault, not Apple’s.
Since the first ios 9 beta the Phone app crashed on my device (iphone 5s). So I cannot see lost calls, and I can only use contacs to call someone. In beta 2 siri suggestions showed the news, now on beta 3 cannot find the news app, and siri stopped showing the news. The Phone app crash was submitted as a bug, and they told it was a duplicate bug, but still haven’t fixet it in beta 3.
Transit not working here in Philadelphia, PA. I am wondering if they only loaded certaon cities.
Crash and burn..Apple news crashing in the second day of the Beta. Unusable. Apple Music not recognizing any Wifi networks and freezing.
can anyone with an iPhone 6 Plus confirm if two finger keyboard curser control has been removed from this beta? you could use this feature in beta 1 & 2 but for some reason it doesn’t seem possible in beta 3 and I haven’t heard anyone else really talking about it.
