Starting tomorrow with iOS 9, Apple Pay will gain support for Discover credit cards as well. Discover, which is running a cashback promotion for Apple Pay users, joins launch partners Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

iOS 9 also adds support for retail cards and reward cards through Apple Pay. With Passbook gaining new Apple Pay features, the app is being renamed Wallet with the software update due out tomorrow.

In other Apple Pay news, Jennifer Bailey, the head of Apple Pay, is set to speak at Code/Mobile in a high profile interview next month.

Apple Pay is available for payments in stores using iPhone 6 or later or Apple Watch with iPhone 5 or later. iPads with Touch ID and iPhone 6 or later can use Apple Pay to make payments within apps.

This is a good list. ETRADE along with Ally has been one of the most requested. There are two Top 100 CUs here Coastal FCU and SECU Maryland plus some high profile educational institutions (MIT, Hopkins). Two Air Force bases, Kirtland, Elgin. Along with the 6s getting faster finger print recognition, Amex Corporate, Discover with huge 10% promotion, many more UK users eligible and Android Pay users trickling in, the number of users should be going up steadily.

Yesterday, I used Apple Pay at Rite Aid so merchants even unannounced are increasing.

And the number is about 500. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204916

    • I had been checking for SECU for awhile, they sent out a newsletter 8 months ago saying it was coming in the spring. Obviously that didn’t happen, but happy its available now. Now I can really start using Apple Pay without using real credit card.

There are many SECU, State Employees Credit Unions. SECU North Carolina is the biggest, #2 in the credit union list but still not available. SECU Maryland and State Employee Federal Credit Union, New York are on the list along with Pennsylvania SECU. Of the Top 10 Credit Unions, SECU North Carolina is the sole holdout. 17 of the top 20 are there as well.

Where do you see Ally on the list? As far as i know they are still not supporting AP.

Sorry Ally is still a holdout. I was just saying that ETrade was one of the most requested along with Ally. Sorry for the confusion.

I am starting to worry my bank will never show up on this list. They are looking to grow and I think getting involved with Apple Pay would be a good step towards that.

My Bank is on this list! I just tried adding my card and get Apple pay working. it’s saying my bank doesn’t work with apple pay. does this take a few days?

I think what it really matters is not how many banks are on the same wagon. It is how many retail stores support Apple pay.

agree 100%, also awareness of stores who might be accepting it already for us customers and employees. Also get Costco man get Costco, you have the terminals already…this will shave off a few seconds in the billing line.

I like the updated verification process is the 9.1 beta when you add a card. It was not part of the other iOS 9 betas.

Its not only about having a ton of banks….
We need more mechants… We need to recognize these merchants.. Flood the market with ApplePay stickers.. Require merchants to put them on registars and windows.. Creat public exposure!….

Credit Union 1 still does not work. I’m excited about the support for Discover though!
