Apple today released the second beta version of the upcoming iOS 9.1 software update to developers. The update includes stability fixes and performance enhancements for the recent iOS 9 release, which left many users stuck with problems using their phones.
The update also includes a variety of brand-new emoji characters.
Users running iOS 9.1 beta 1 can update directly through Software Update panel in the stock Settings app, while users currently running a different version of iOS can download the update from Apple’s developer center.
The new build number is 13B5119e. The previous build was 13B5110e. We’ll keep this post updated with any additional changes we find.
Apple also published a new beta version of Xcode 7.1 with support for iOS 9.1.
Contact photos toggle for Messages
Users on supported devices can now choose whether or not to show contact photos in the Messages app. Previously the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus showed these by default.

Latest build update not showing up yet on my iPhone or iPad Air
My Safari was useless after updating to 9.0, it was opening then after few seconds it went to a black screen then crashed. Seems to be fixed now after 9.0.1 , but it’s not mentioned on the change log. The iOS keyboard was also lagging, let’s hope this issues are cleared off. What is interesting is that I never had these problems when I was running the iOS 9 betas.
What a pity, my biggest issue with 9.1 beta is still here. Incoming call over bluetooth audio isn’t properly working, I can’t hear other side so the caller. It can be fixed by switching audio source from bluetooth to iPhone and then quickly back to bluetooth device. But still very annoying and basically 5 sec of silence on both sides. Interestingly, outgoing calls directly over bluetooth are working fine…
Yep i have had that problem too. It’s hit and miss on it but hopefully it fixes it in this beta. Otherwise im going to post it as feedback via the feedback app
Martine, report this bug to Apple via Feedback App. I did that many times during summer when I tested iOS 9.0 Betas and all the bugs I reported were fixed in time. It’s a great opportunity to let them know so use it ;-)
Hopefully this improves battery life ( my 6+ looses 50% on the way in to work with music playing! )
To get this latest build to show up as available on my IOS devices, I had to first delete the Beta Profile in Settings>General>Profiles. Next step>>>hard restart. Now build 9.1 beta 2 is showing up in Software Update as available for download. Sheesh.
That’s because if you have the beta profile installed it looks for a public beta build. You have to remove that to get it to check the correct channel for updates.
Weren’t we suppose to get support for Store specific credit cards and stop loyalty cards for Apple Pay? I tried adding my My Best Buy card, and My Kohl’s card, but I got an error saying that it wasn’t supported.

i have an ipad 2 and imessage isnt working neither is facetime i havent been able to talk to friends who didnt have this problem please help
Sometimes with an update you have to verify your number if you are using in iMessage. Turn it on and off to see if that works.
A couple thoughts. The reason Car Play is still a hobby for Apple is the car manufacturers. They are very slow to launch new tech initiatives unless your are getting a high end vehicle. Even if you do they do not update the infotainment hardware regularly. They usually only do it during a model refresh cycle so not every year. It is a slow rollout process. Like everything automotive it starts on the expensive models and trickles down to the affordable models. My 2015 Honda Fit’s infotainment system gets the job done but it is not a polished product like Apple. Replacing the head unit with one that would have the full car play experience would be expensive and also problematic as back up cameras and trip computers etc are specific to that vehicle. My biggest issue is that iOS 9.1 public beta has totally messed with my system. The bluetooth phone function is all screwed as is the Siri audio input screen.
I updated my phone with the Apple update last night but it hasn’t given me the new emojis! Please help because I can’t figure out what’s wrong!
emoji?! seriously?? who cares about that crap??? work on code, improve, improve!!! optimize!!! dont focus on some crap emoji for 5 years old!!! Apple CMON! 9.0 with lags, 9.0.1 with lags too and 9.1 will get new emoji… Please.
