Apple releases iOS 9.0.2 with fixes for iMessage, iCloud Drive, Podcasts, more

IMG_1297

With OS X El Capitan releasing today, Apple has also updated iOS to version 9.0.2 with an over-the-air software update. This bug fix update marks the second release since iOS 9.0 launched earlier this month.

The update includes bug fixes and performance improvements for iCloud Backup, iMessage activation, Apple’s Podcasts app, and issues with cellular data usage. The release cycle suggests Apple is moving faster to ship small updates to address specific issues with iOS 9.

Apple publicly released iOS 9.0 on September 16th with multitasking features for iPad, transit directions in Maps, a feature-packed Notes app, an all-new News app, and many more features and improvements. Before the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus even hit stores, iOS 9.0.1 delivered quick fixes for setup assistance and alarm issues.

Apple is also developing iOS 9.1 for developers and public beta testers, the former group getting beta 3 today, with under-the-hood changes and new emoji characters.

In addition to selling 13 million iPhones over the 6s launch weekend, Apple says that more than half its users have already updated to a version of iOS 9.

iOS 9.0.2 is a fairly small update at about 72MB so the update process should be somewhat quick for users.

I’m loving these so far weekly updates. It should be like this all the time.

I really hope this addresses a number of bugs on 6s. iOS7 was also filled with bugs and slowed down the performance even on iPhone 5s, and within a couple of weeks there was a 7.0.4 already.

Glad they squashed that cellular bug. Annoying that I couldn’t use my Music app on 4G.

I really wish they would push out a fix for the zoom issue with the Wallet app!

  5. Wow, I seriously had to hard reset my phone a few days ago because all of my cellular data switches were stuck in the “off” position. Thanks for taking so long.

    Ok, no Siri in Latvian.
But on my new iPhone 6 & iOS 9.0 no Latvian system language? No progress from June, 2007:D
Or iOS 9.0.2 has fixed this fault?

Have they fixed the icloud keychain yet. Cant log in on any device.

  10. My Home screen doesn’t rotate anymore with 9.0.2. I’m not really complaining. It drove me nuts getting stuck in landscape. Email still rotates, though.

I am finding the iCloud Drive app a very poor experience compared to Dropbox, etc. Even a thing so simple as ‘search’ does not work. I can type in the name of a file that I *know* is in my iCloud Drive, and it returns no results. Also, basic things like “Save to iCloud Drive” are missing from the iOS share sheets, so you cannot, for example, open a PDF in Safari and then save it to your iCloud Drive. This stuff is really basic and I cannot believe they missed it.

  12. Sorry!!!! The imessage activation problem has not been fixed..(4S) and my ipad2 is still stuck in connect to itunes…

On my ipad since upgrading to iOs9.02 I can no longer open pdf or .word documents that are attached to emails. My faith in Apple is dwindling fast, and that’s after having been a committed Apple user since the 1990-s !
