While the claim to have crashed the App Store appears to have been something of an exaggeration, it does appear true that many were for a time unable to download the app, with The Drum reporting that downloads peaked at 9,000 per second. But Apple said the App Store didn’t go down:
Apple confirmed to BuzzFeed News that its App Store did not go down yesterday – for any reason. https://t.co/pF3gxZcuZA
