Speck unveils the ultra-portable Pocket VR viewer compatible with iPhone

Speck today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas has taken the wraps off of its foray into the virtual reality market. The popular accessory maker has unveiled the Pocket VR viewer, which features a collapsible design and is compatible with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s.

Speck touts that the viewer’s design is what sets it apart from the competition. The Pocket VR is compact and collapsible and is paired with the CandyShell Grip smartphone case, which offers military-grade protection. Speck says that when the viewer is opened, its lenses provide a “rich viewing experience for 3D concert, virtual retail, and augmented reality.” Yet, while closed, it’s flat and self-contained, making it easier to transport.

Pocket VR is Google Carboard-certified and Speck has partnered with Jaunt, a well-known player in cinematic VR. “Combining Speck’s innovative designs and Jaunt’s world-class content, we’ve created the best possible virtual reality experience for everyday tech users,” said Miles Perkins, VP Marketing Communications at Jaunt.

Speck’s Pocket VR will be available this spring for $69.95. Included in that price is the CandyShell Grip phone case. The main selling point of the Pocket VR is obviously it’s portability, but with the parneteship with Jaunt and being Google Cardboard-certified, the case seems like it will offer the most and some of the best virtual reality content we’ve seen to date. Speck allows you to experience virtual reality from your pocket

LAS VEGAS – (January 6, 2016) – At CES 2016 Speck unveiled their first pocket-friendly virtual reality viewer to give consumers a quick and easy VR experience with a compact and collapsible design. Not only will users be able to enjoy VR experiences from the convenience of their smartphone, they’ll receive the added benefit of Speck’s military-grade protective CandyShell Grip smartphone case, which is included with the viewer.

Additionally, Speck is announcing their partnership with the world leader in cinematic VR, Jaunt, with whom they have created a custom viewing experience specifically for CES. “Combining Speck’s innovative designs and Jaunt’s world-class content, we’ve created the best possible virtual reality experience for everyday tech users,” said Miles Perkins, VP Marketing Communications at Jaunt.

Pocket VR is a Google Cardboard-certified viewer created by the award-winning Speck design team. When opened, Pocket VR and its precision-crafted lenses provide a rich viewing experience for 3D content, virtual reality, and augmented reality. When closed, retractable side panels fold into a perfectly flat, self-contained package that shields lenses from dust and scratches, and slides easily into a pocket or purse for on-the-go accessibility.

Speck’s best-selling CandyShell Grip smartphone case is the perfect companion to Pocket VR, which securely grips onto the case when in use. When not in use, the viewer can be easily stowed while CandyShell Grip will continue to provide smartphones with military-grade protection against everyday bumps and drops.

Pocket VR with CandyShell Grip will be available in Spring 2016 for iPhone 6s/6 and Galaxy S6. The VR viewer and phone case will be sold together as a bundled package for $69.95.
