Apogee releases its most affordable full-featured Mac recording interface yet

From 9to5Toys.com:

Apogee, one of the leading audio interface companies in the business, has just released its most affordable option for Mac yet. The new ONE for Mac is very much based on the company’s small-footprint ONE interfaces, but this time with a more focused approach just for Mac users. While you wont get the dual functionality of the previous generation iOS/Mac options, the new interface also won’t reach into your pocket quite as deep.

The new ONE for Mac features 2 analog inputs (XLR microphone and 1/4” instrument connector on breakout cable), a pair of outs, a built-in omnidirectional mic, USB 2.0 connectivity and will work with Logic, Pro Tools and others right out of the box. As usual with Apogee’s high quality recording gear, the die cast aluminum chassis and  “legendary” AD/DA conversion was designed in California and built in the USA.

This model will connect with your iOS devices, but it will require an optional iOS connectivity kit. And Apogee is currently offering some nice deals on Waves plug-ins with the purchase of any interface:

Now when you buy Apogee ONE, Duet, Quartet or Ensemble, you also receive a discount code good for 25% off a single plugin or 35% off any Waves bundle plus an additional $100 voucher* that can be used towards your nextWaves plugin purchase.

The new ONE for Mac is available now for $249.99 shipped ($100 below the previous gen iOS/Mac model) on Amazon, B&H and Sweetwater.

If Apogee’s pedigree and, all things considered, fairly high price tag don’t suit your needs, there are a number of solid options floating around the $100 mark that will get the job done nicely. While they may not sound as good, the PreSonus and Focusrite Scarlett boxes can be a great way to up your recording quality without breaking the bank.

Santa Monica, California, April 5, 2016Apogee Electronics is pleased to introduce a new member of their ONE audio interface family, ONE for Mac. ONE for Mac is a 2 IN x 2 OUT USB Audio Interface/Microphone that is the most affordable all-in-one solution for writing, recording and mixing music on your Mac. Now streamlined for Mac-only use, (it does not include iOS cable, power supply or battery operation), ONE for Mac is available at the more accessible price point of $249 USD – with an optional iOS connectivity kit sold separately. LOL! I was thinking the same thing.
The Focusrite 2i2 can be had for less than half of this price, and they always have great driver support especially for new Mac OS releases.
