Apple drafts Cynthia Hogan from NFL and VP Joe Biden’s staff to head Washington office

With recent spats with the FBI and the Obama administration, Apple’s presence in Washington is growing rapidly. Today it was revealed that Apple hired insider Cynthia Hogan to head up its Washington office. Politico broke the story:

Hogan will become the iPhone maker’s vice president for public policy and government affairs for the Americas, a role that oversees not only the company’s D.C. operations but also Canada and Latin America. She’ll report to Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives, who previously led the Environmental Protection Agency.”Cynthia’s intellect and judgment have consistently distinguished her as a uniquely talented professional and we’re lucky to have her join the team at Apple,” Jackson said in a statement.

Hogan will serve as vice president for public policy and government affairs at Apple and report to VP of environment, policy and social initiatives, Lisa Jackson, who joined the company from the EPA in 2013 and reports directly to CEO Tim Cook. Politico notes she’ll be responsible not only for US operations from Washington, but also Latin America and Canada.

“Cynthia’s intellect and judgment have consistently distinguished her as a uniquely talented professional and we’re lucky to have her join the team at Apple,” Jackson said in a statement.

Hogan is no stranger to controversy having presided over an NFL dealing with serious health issues involved with concussions and head injuries, “Deflategate” and the local Washington “Redskins” derogatory name.

Before the NFL she was a top aide to US Vice President Joe Biden, which will certainly come in handy, for the next year anyway.

    Awesome news, Apple will soon have an entire branch of do nothings;

    “Hogan is no stranger to controversy having presided over an NFL dealing with serious health issues involved with concussions and head injuries, “Deflategate” and the local Washington “Redskins” derogatory name.”

    Lets go down the list;
    Concussions and head injuries – no major advancements have been made in this regard, business same as usual.
    Deflategate – Gone and forgotten until the Patriots find a new way to cheat.
    Redskins – Last I checked they’re still the Redskins, and probably will be for life (to steal a line from Billy Joel).

    Top aide to Biden, enough said.

    Sad this position is nothing more than to stroke politicians off and make them feel more important than the public servants they are suppose to be.

        To steal a line from Obi-Wan, “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.”

        Sums up D.C. All that’s missing are a couple of Bith’s to play Hail to the Chief whenever the emperor er, president walks in to the room…

      Except she was working for the NFL at the time. They got what they wanted, no change on these issues. From her bosses point of view she did her job well.
