Growing iOS 10 and macOS 10.12 traffic on 9to5Mac ahead of wider launch

We’ve been getting hit by iOS 10 and macOS 10.12 since the middle of last year, mostly coming from Apple’s campus and the surrounding areas. Obviously, things have been ramping up lately and it’s interesting to see what the numbers are like a few hours ahead of when all developers get their hands on the new OSes and the data gets crazy…

It’s also a good time to remind any brave but eager beta testers to make good backups of iOS and OS X devices before jumping into the inevitable buggy fun that iOS 10 and macOS 10.12 will surely be.

iCloud backups for iPhones and iPads plus iTunes backups just to be safe, and Time Machine backups for Macs is a good start.

As for iOS 10, yesterday and today almost .2% of our iOS traffic was coming from iOS 10 devices. That’s more beta traffic than previous years but likely a factor of many things.

Moving on to macOS 10.12 (we’re going to go ahead and call it macOS because reasons), we’re seeing it as our 7th biggest OS ahead of 10.5 and 10.4 combined on Intel and PPC and at nearly the same .2% of Mac users on the site.

Again, the three biggest cities are Sunnyvale, San Francisco and of course Cupertino where the majority of hits come from.

We’re obviously expecting these graphs to explode as developers get their hands on the new Mac and iOS betas likely later today. Stay tuned for more iOS 10 and macOS 10.12 news as well as new watchOS and tvOS betas coming in a matter of hours.
