Netatmo’s Smart Thermostat and new Smart Radiator Valves bring HomeKit heating and cooling to Europe

Netatmo, maker of the hyperlocal Weather Station, announced today that its Smart Thermostat and new Smart Radiator Valves officially support Apple’s HomeKit feature. The company highlights providing “the only complete heating solution in Europe that’s compatible with Apple HomeKit.”

Netatmo’s Smart Thermostat lets you control your HVAC system from your iPhone or with Siri, and the new Smart Valves apply the same concept to room-by-room heating radiators by replacing standard knobs.

Netatmo says its new HomeKit-enabled Smart Valves will be available by the end of the year at £59.99 each. Smart Thermostat is available now in the UK and across Europe for £179.00.

Netatmo’s Smart Thermostat and Smart Valves are now HomeKit-enabled and allow heating to be voice-controlled

London, 2 September 2016 – Netatmo, a revolutionary smart home company developing groundbreaking, intuitive and beautifully-designed connected consumer electronics, announces today the compatibility of its intelligent heating solutions – the Smart Thermostat and Smart Radiator Valves – with Apple HomeKit.

Apple HomeKit allows users to control smart home devices and make them work together, right from their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Via Siri, users can control their heating with their voice. With HomeKit, they can also create customised scenarios between their Netatmo Thermostat, their Netatmo Valves and their other smart home devices.

Netatmo offers the only complete heating solution in Europe that’s compatible with Apple HomeKit.

“Hey Siri, increase the temperature in the bedroom by 2°C”

With Apple HomeKit, it is now possible to control the connected devices of the house with a single gesture from an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and have them work together. Siri, Apple voice-controlled personal assistant, recognises the connected devices that are compatible with HomeKit.

Netatmo’s Smart Thermostat and Smart Radiator Valves allow users to save 37% of energy to heat their home[1]. Netatmo’s Smart Thermostat sets a program to reflect the users’ habits. It also allows users to control their heating remotely from a smartphone. Netatmo’s Smart Valves set a heating schedule for each room of the house, reflecting their occupancy and the family’s rhythm of life. Netatmo’s Smart Thermostat and Smart Valves are designed by Philippe Starck.

With HomeKit, the user asks Siri to change the temperature of the house (“Hey Siri, set my Thermostat to 20°C”,) to increase the temperature (“Hey Siri, increase the temperature of my home by 2°C”), or to change the temperature of certain parts of the house (“Hey Siri, decrease the temperature of the bedroom by 2°C”).

HomeKit improves comfort at home

With HomeKit, the user can create customised scenarios to connect their Netatmo Thermostat and Valves to other smart home devices.

For example, the scenario “Leaving home” switches the lights and the heating off and locks the door when the user leaves the house. With a “Wake up” scenario, the shutters open and the heating in the bathroom turns on. The user activates these scenarios with a simple gesture on their Apple Home App, or by voice.

HomeKit allows immediate access to the house connected devices. The user checks and changes the temperature of the house and of every room from the lock screen of their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. When the user is at home, HomeKit uses the home Wi-Fi connection. When not at home, the user can control the heating remotely with HomeKit and Siri if he has an Apple TV.
