How-To: Prioritize app downloads on iOS 10 after performing a restore [Video]

Have you ever wanted to give priority to the most important apps during an iOS restore? Perhaps the app that you’re waiting for is a much-needed password management app used to facilitate logins? Or perhaps it’s some other mission critical app that you need ASAP.

In iOS 10, it’s now easy to pause app downloads, cancel downloads, and give priority to the most important apps. Watch our brief video walkthrough as we show you how.

How to prioritize app downloads in iOS 10

Step 1: While a restore is in progress, and apps are downloading, perform a 3D Touch gesture (firm press) on the app icon that you wish to prioritize.

Step 2: On the Quick Action menu that appears, tap the Prioritize Download option to prioritize the app.

Before the app download will commence, you may need to wait for other in-progress downloads to complete. If you’d like to pause an in-progress download, you can use the same 3D Touch gesture and use the Pause Download option instead. Once a download is paused, it frees up another slot for a download. This will allow the prioritized app to commence downloading sooner.
