Sprint wants to attract more iPad customers with its new $20/month unlimited data plan for tablet users. As with most carrier deals, there are a few strings attached.
You have to purchase the cellular iPad from Sprint, have at least one phone line with the carrier and turn on AutoPay for automatic billing.
It’s also not totally unlimited if you want to do anything beyond email and web browsing.
Video playback, music streaming, and online gaming has a resolution and speed limit that doesn’t give you the LTE experience. Another $20/month boosts those limits to faster speeds that are still capped.
With this new unlimited plan, tablet customers will receive unlimited mobile optimized streaming for a high-quality video experience for mobile devices up to 480p+ resolution and music streams at up to 500kbps and online gaming streams at up to 2Mbps. Customers can choose to add premium resolution streaming for an additional $20/line/month that includes HD-quality streaming videos at up to 1080p+, HD music streaming at up to 1.5Mbps, and online gaming at up to 8Mbps.
Depending on your carrier plans, you may find a better deal with a mobile sharing plan without having a separate data plan for your iPad so be aware before you sign up. Check out the full details over at Sprint if you’re interested.
