tvOS 10.1 with new TV app now available for Apple TV

Apple has released the tvOS 10.1 software update for the fourth generation Apple TV. The latest software update includes Apple’s new single sign-on feature which lets you authenticate with your cable provider to unlock all compatible paid video apps. tvOS 10.1 also includes Apple’s new TV app which works with various video services plus iTunes movies and TV shows.

The update follows the feature-packed tvOS 10 update in September, and the minor bug fix release of tvOS 10.0.1 last month.

Aside from recent software updates, Apple also recently introduced a new app for Apple TV called iBooks StoryTime.

While Apple introduced its TV app on iPhone and iPad with the second iOS 10.2 developer beta, tvOS 10.1 did not include its version of the same TV app at the time.

tvOS 10.1 beta 3 was the first to include the new TV app shortly after the software update began rolling out.

Single sign-on is also available through the Settings app under Accounts for certain service providers. Paid video apps will need to update to take advantage of this feature as Apple adds more service providers.

We’ll update with any changes discovered in the official tvOS 10.1 beta below.

The update splash screen highlights the new TV app, Single sign-on, and Siri live tune-in for sports. A new software update for the previous generation Apple TV is also available.
