Samsung has announced that beginning today, a new Apple Music app is now available for its smart TVs. The app can be downloaded on all Samsung smart TVs from 2018 through 2020.
The Apple Music app for Samsung TVs works much like it does for Apple TV. You can simply sign in with your existing Apple ID and Apple Music account, or “begin the subscription process” right from the TV. If you sign up for an Apple Music account through your Samsung smart TV, you are eligible for the same three-month free trial as offered on other platforms.
Apple Music on a Samsung TV provides access to all of the service’s features, including For You playlists, videos, streaming radio such as Beats 1, and much more. There’s also support for accessing the latest “At Home With Apple Music” content, which includes playlists and interviews crafted “to help create a sense of connection and community during this time of distancing.”
Today’s announcement follows Samsung’s early support for AirPlay 2 and the Apple TV app last year.
‘Our goal has always been to deliver the best entertainment experiences to consumers — and as people spend more time at home, we are more committed to that mission than ever,’ said Salek Brodsky, vice president of strategic partnerships and business development for Samsung Electronics.
‘Last year, we were the first TV manufacturer to offer the Apple TV app, and today, we are the first to offer Apple Music. Our partnership with Apple has been instrumental in bringing consumers an unparalleled lineup of different entertainment options, especially as they seek out more content choices from their Smart TVs.’
If you own one of the compatible Samsung smart TVs, you can download the new Apple Music app now from the Samsung Smart TV App Store. Full press release below.
