If you’re not sold on Apple Watch Ultra 2, you can now save $104 on the original. Last year’s Apple Watch Ultra is now down to a new low of $695 and is joined by the best prices yet on the just-released official iPhone 15 MagSafe cases from $25. You can also save $300 on Samsung’s new 27-inch ViewFinity S9 5K Thunderbolt 4 monitor. Hit the jump for all that and more in the latest 9to5Toys Lunch Break.
Save $104 on the original Apple Watch Ultra
Woot is currently offering the Apple Watch Ultra for $695. This is a new all-time low at $104 off the usual $799 price tag and beating our previous mention by an extra $34. It’s one of the first times we’ve seen it drop under $700, too. Apple Watch Ultra is the original version of Apple’s most capable wearable with an even more rugged design than its flagship Series 8 counterpart. Everything about that improved feature set is packed into a titanium case that encircles the larger 49mm screen that’s the brightest Always-On Retina display yet. We break everything down below the fold, including how it compares to the new Ultra 2.
Apple Watch Ultra also sports a more distinct side module that encompasses the usual Digital Crown, as well as a secondary, customizable action button to round out the form-factor adjustments. There’s also a 100-meter water-resistance rating, as well as 36-hour battery life, dual-frequency GPS, and everything else you can read about over in our hands-on coverage.
As for how it compares to the new Apple Watch Ultra 2, you’re not missing all too much. There is the new S9 chip at the center of the fitness tracking experience, as well as the new pinch gesture recognition, but you’re largely looking at the same wearable as the discounted model above.
Apple’s official iPhone 15 MagSafe cases on sale
Amazon is now offering the best prices yet on Apple’s official iPhone 15, 15 Plus, and 15 Pro Max Silicone Cases. These are some of the very first chances to save already, and now now falling lower than before in several styles starting at $25. In some cases you’ll have to clip the on-page coupon to see the additional savings applied. Pricing drops from the usual $49 going rate, saving upwards of 50% on a series of covers for Apple’s latest smartphones. These are only the second price cuts so far and are below the $47 launch deals that were live last month.
Apple’s official silicone cases are easily the company’s best first-party covers these days, delivering the same premium look and feel we’ve come to expect over the years. There are several styles available for both iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max, each of which has a soft-touch and grippy finish. You’ll also find built-in magnets for taking full advantage of MagSafe charging, to go alongside a raised lip around the front and camera module for keeping your device scratch-free.
Save $300 on Samsung’s new 27-inch ViewFinity S9 5K Thunderbolt 4 monitor
Samsung is now offering the second-ever discount on its new 27-inch ViewFinity S9 Thunderbolt 4 Monitor. Dropping the new release down to $1,299.99 shipped, today’s offer lands from the usual $1,600 price tag in order to save you $300. We first saw it go on sale during Amazon’s fall Prime Day sale earlier in the month, and now anyone who missed that offer has a chance to bring home an all-time low. You’ll also find it on sale at Amazon for the same price.
If you’re looking for an alternative to Apple’s Studio Display, this is it. Samsung’s new ViewFinity S9 monitor steals the spotlight as one of the first 5K Thunderbolt 4 on the market. The iMac-like design is going to fit in perfectly with the rest of your Apple setup, and arrives with some smart features baked in like onboard AirPlay and direct access to streaming services. There’s also the 5K panel with 99% DCI-P3 support and a built-in color calibration engine, as well as a 4K webcam, and more. Get a closer look in our launch coverage.
New iPads aren’t coming until March, but iPad Air 5 is now $99 off
Amazon is now offering Apple’s latest iPad Air 5 for $500. It arrives with several colorways of the Wi-Fi 64GB model on sale, all dropping down from the usual $599 price tag. This is $99 off and marking the first discount in over a month. We didn’t see any savings go live on Amazon’s fall Prime Day sale earlier in the month, either. Today’s discount is all the more notable given the context that new iPads won’t be due out until March of next year. So if you’re not looking to wait another five months, saving $99 now is hard to argue with.
Bringing all of the M1 power to a more affordable form-factor, Apple’s iPad Air 5 is an even better value with some savings attached. It notably features 10.9-inch Retina display, with True Tone, P3 wide color, and an antireflective coating being applied to the canvas.
Apple Pencil 2 support is of course onboard, alongside other stables in the iPadOS lineup like Touch ID in the power button and a 12MP Ultra Wide front camera comes backed by Center Stage support. And before you say that the 64GB of storage is too little for Final Cut Pro, the USB-C support means you can plug in and edit right off an SSD. Learn more about iPad Air 5 over in our coverage.
Rest your M2 Mac on Twelve South’s stylish Curve stand
Amazon is now offering the Twelve South Curve MacBook Stand for $48. This is down from the usual $60 price tag that the white colorway typically fetches, and amounts to just under 20% in savings. It’s the first discount we’ve seen since back in August when it sold for $2 more, and is the second-best price of the year. Twelve South’s premium Curve stand elevates your new M2 MacBook or any other device 6 inches off the desk with a unique design that’s comprised of a single piece of aluminum. With an open base, it’ll not only improve the ergonomics of your setup by bringing your screen to eye level, but also helps increase air flow to keep your machine running cooler. Then the matte black finish rounds this out as a sleek upgrade to any desktop Apple setup.
