Today Apple has released a new beta for Mac users with a developer account. macOS Sequoia 15.1 beta 7 offers the latest version of the big Apple Intelligence update ahead of the fast-approaching public launch. Here’s what to expect. [Update 10/16: Public beta 4 is now available too, one day later.]
What to expect from today’s beta 7 update
We are only about two weeks out from the expected public release date for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.
This trio of updates will bring the first set of Apple Intelligence features to compatible iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
That means today’s developer beta 7 is one of the last iterations on macOS Sequoia 15.1 before that public launch.
As a result, don’t expect anything noteworthy in terms of new features.
Instead, today’s beta will likely focus entirely on bringing continued bug fixes and performance improvements to the Mac’s software. Very similar to the beta 7 updates for iOS and iPadOS 18.1 that recently dropped.
Coming soon to Mac users
We’re likely to see the RC (release candidate) version of macOS 15.1 arrive next week, with the public launch in the last few days of October.
In addition to Apple Intelligence features, one highlight of macOS 15.1 is a key upgrade to iPhone Mirroring that lets you drag and drop files between the Mac and your mirrored iPhone.
