Apple brings USB-C to new Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse

Apple today announced a brand new M4 iMac, and with it the news we’ve all been waiting for: USB-C has finally been added to the Mac’s key accessories. The Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse are now fully USB-C, and can be ordered now in both white and black.

New M4 iMac comes with USB-C accessories

Apple has been on a journey over the last few years with its USB-C adoption.

The Mac has had USB-C for a long time, and over time the various iPad models followed suit. Last year notably brought the first iPhones with USB-C.

But despite years and years with Macs containing USB-C ports, key Mac accessories continued to use Lightning. Even as recently as the M3 iMac launched last fall, Apple kept the Magic Keyboard and more on Lightning for charging.

Today, that finally ends.

With the latest M4 iMac, Apple has kept its Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse all largely the same as before. There’s no radical design change to be found.

But importantly, each accessory now uses USB-C to charge rather than Lightning.

You can pre-order the new iMac right now, and it ships Friday, November 8.

Standalone USB-C accessories now available to order in black and white

The Apple Store now also lets you order the new USB-C accessories as standalone products.

They are available in both black and white, and ship right away—you won’t have to wait until November 8.
