AirPods 4 firmware updated with Apple’s newest release

Apple has released new firmware for AirPods 4, adding to the series of recent firmware releases for the entire AirPods product line. Here’s what you should know.

Latest firmware release is same build as AirPods Pro 2

The latest AirPods 4 firmware carries build number 7B19—the same version released last week for AirPods Pro 2.

Unlike AirPods Pro 2 though, AirPods 4 do not offer support for iOS 18.1’s new hearing health features. Despite running the same firmware, Hearing Test, Hearing Protection, and Hearing Aid functionality all remain exclusive to AirPods Pro 2.

Apple has not yet issued release notes for the AirPods 4 firmware, but we’re not expecting any new features or notable changes.

The other recent firmware releases have included version 6F21 for the original AirPods Pro and AirPods 2 and 3. The last AirPods 4 firmware was version 7A304.

Those recent release notes simply read:

Bug fixes and other improvements

It’s likely that’s what today’s update brings to the AirPods 4 as well.

It’s not unusual for Apple’s firmware updates to bring small tweaks to the way features like Active Noise Cancellation or Adaptive Audio work on compatible AirPods models. But Apple typically doesn’t call out these changes specifically in their release notes.
