Channel 4 launches Vision Pro streaming app with a Taskmaster environment

Vision Pro users in the UK have a new TV streaming app starting today. Channel 4 is launching a dedicated Vision Pro app, the first UK broadcasters to do so. Here are the details.

visionOS gains new streaming destination for Taskmaster

Channel 4’s new streaming app for visionOS lets you watch favorites like Taskmaster in a native Vision Pro experience.

Channel 4 is the first UK broadcaster to take advantage of the unique and powerful capabilities of Apple Vision Pro. Programming is viewable in a ground-breaking cinema-style, full-screen viewing experience overlaid onto viewers’ real-life environments, such as living room walls.

The UK broadcaster has even built an immersive environment into the app that takes you to the Taskmaster set.

Here’s a peek:

Recently, other streaming apps that have added environments include SpongeBob SquarePants in the Paramount+ app and a new Iceland environment for Disney+.

Environments let you immerse yourself in a virtual scene while you enjoy the streaming content inside that app. Unlike Apple’s own system Environments in visionOS, which can be used for any app, the ones found in streaming apps like Channel 4 are limited to those apps alone.
