Netflix is launching party games for the living room with iPhone integration

Netflix launched into the world of gaming in 2021 with a focus on mobile titles, but now the streamer is ready to push harder into the living room too. The company has announced five party games coming to Netflix soon, just in time for holiday gatherings.

Five new party games coming to Netflix soon

Today Netflix announced that five new party games are coming to the service soon. They’ll be available with a Netflix subscription at no extra cost.

And thanks to iPhone and Android integration, it will be easy for everyone in the room to participate.

Here are the forthcoming games:

  • LEGO® Party! – Square off against your friends in the ultimate LEGO party game. Compete in hilarious minigames and hunt for gold through themed Challenge Zones.
  • Boggle Party – Race against the clock to find words (the longer, the better) in a jumbled-up letter grid. Play solo or make it a party with up to eight players.
  • Pictionary: Game Night – Draw ’til you drop — or one of your friends guesses what you’re sketching — in this hilarious and fast-paced spin on Mattel’s classic group game.
  • Tetris Time Warp – Time-travel with friends to different eras of Tetris, from the 1984 original to the classic Gameboy version. Can you warp your way to a top score?
  • Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends – One person at this party secretly has no idea what everyone else is talking about. Figure out whose clues are fishy to unmask the crasher.

Netflix didn’t share a specific release date for these titles, only saying they’ll be “coming soon” and referencing the opportunity to play during the holiday season.

9to5Mac’s Take

I think this move makes a lot of sense for Netflix. The streamer has long offered plenty of reason for families and friends to turn on Netflix at holiday gatherings—such as with well-timed movie releases, or most recently with its licensing of select NFL games on Christmas Day.

Party games should be a great addition that keeps families inside Netflix, and away from other options. I hope we see a growing catalog of titles over time, too.

Do you ever play Netflix games, and what do you think of the new party games initiative? Let us know in the comments.
