Apple TV has an exciting early 2026 slate ahead, but it’s also been closing out 2025 strong, with three premieres from the last month being among the streamer’s best-reviewed offerings of the year. If you’re a new subscriber thanks to Apple TV’s Black Friday deal, here’s what you should check out.
#1: Pluribus

Pluribus is the new sci-fi drama from Vince Gilligan, creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
It’s already become Apple’s biggest drama series launch ever, and that’s no doubt in part due to the near-universal acclaim it’s earned from critics and viewers alike.
The series has a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and 86 on Metacritic.
Though its premise is shrouded in mystery, here’s Apple’s official summary:
The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.
In my view, Pluribus shares a lot in common with Severance. It offers a very grounded, human-focused twist on a sci-fi show and evokes a lot of philosophical questions.
If you haven’t yet watched Pluribus, do yourself a favor and catch up on the show now.
#2: Come See Me in the Good Light

Come See Me in the Good Light is a Sundance award-winning documentary film that tackles weighty subjects of death, love, and joy in a sometimes heartbreaking world.
The film won Festival Favorite at Sundance this year, and has a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score and 81 Metacritic. Documentaries aren’t for everyone, but this one is well worth a watch.
Here’s Apple’s summary:
“Come See Me in the Good Light” is a poignant and unexpectedly funny love story about poets Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley facing an incurable cancer diagnosis with joy, wit and an unshakable partnership. Through laughter and unwavering love, they transform pain into purpose, and mortality into a moving celebration of resilience.

#3: Mr. Scorsese

Mr. Scorsese is a five-episode exploration of the ins and outs of Martin Scorsese the man and the filmmaker.
The limited series was directed by Rebecca Miller, the acclaimed director and writer who is daughter to Arthur Miller and wife of Daniel Day-Lewis.
Here’s Apple’s official summary:
“Mr. Scorsese” examines how his own colorful life experiences informed his artistic vision as each film he made stunned the world with originality. Starting with his New York University student films and continuing to the present day, this documentary explores the themes that have fascinated Scorsese and informed his work, including the place of good and evil in the fundamental nature of humankind.
Interviewees featured on-screen include Robert De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Thelma Schoonmaker, Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Paul Schrader, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, Jay Cocks and Rodrigo Prieto.
Mr. Scorsese earned an impressive 98% Rotten Tomatoes score from 60 reviews, and an 84 on Metacritic.

Bonus: Down Cemetery Road

One more recent scripted TV series is well worth your attention.
Down Cemetery Road stars Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson in a detective series set in the UK.
The show is based on the novel by Mick Herron, who also wrote the books that serve as source material for hit Apple TV series Slow Horses. Here’s the plot summary:
When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbor Sarah Trafford (Ruth Wilson) becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm (Emma Thompson). Zoë and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.
The series has earned positive reviews overall, but it didn’t quite hit the same heights as the three premieres mentioned above. I still personally recommend giving it a try.
