Spotify subscribers in the U.S. and Canada can now watch music videos

It’s been a long time coming, but premium Spotify subscribers in the U.S. and Canada can finally watch music videos of their favorite artists. However, the feature is still in beta. Here are the details.

Catlogue is limited, but will grow in the coming months

In March 2024, Spotify launched an early beta in 11 markets, allowing users to watch music videos of some of their favorite artists. A few months later, the beta expanded to nearly 100 countries, but the U.S. and Canada were still left out.

Today, Spotify confirmed that the feature will be available to all premium subscribers in the U.S. and Canada by the end of the month, despite it still being in beta.

In practice, as Spotify explains, the “initial video catalog is limited, but they expect the availability to “grow quickly over the coming months”. The current catalogue includes music videos from Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean, BABYMONSTER, Addison Rae, Tyler Childers, Natanael Cano, and Carin León.

Here’s a bit more from Spotify:

This expansion gives millions more listeners access to a catalog of official music videos, from studio versions to live performances and covers.

To watch music videos on Spotify, just tap, click, or select the “Switch to video” button that appears under the album or song artwork, when available. The feature is available on the Spotify app for TVs, desktops, iOS, and Android devices, with the option to watch it in full screen.

Alternatively, according to Spotify:

To find additional music videos—including live and cover videos—scroll down to explore Related Music Videos, or go to an artist’s profile and look under the Music tab. You can also watch by genre and era via playlists like 90s Video Hits, Hip-Hop Throwbacks, and Latin Party Hits. Music videos will be available to all Premium subscribers in the U.S. and Canada by the end of the month.

In addition to the U.S. and Canada, Spotify told 9to5Mac that the feature is also rolling out starting today to premium Spotify subscribers in Antigua & Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Uganda, and Venezuela.
