PSA: Belkin ending support for most Wemo smart home accessories this week

Last year, Belkin announced that it would end support for most of its Wemo smart home products in January 2026. That deadline is now approaching, with customers set to lose access to most Wemo smart home accessory functionality on January 31. The exception, however, is if you use Wemo accessories with HomeKit.

As we explained last year, Belkin says that almost all of its older Wemo products will lose support for key features including:

  • App Access: The Wemo app used to control these devices will no longer be supported after January 31, 2026.
  • Remote Features: Any features that rely on cloud connectivity, including remote access and voice assistant integrations, will no longer work.
  • Customer Support: Technical support, firmware and software updates, and troubleshooting assistance for affected products will no longer be available after January 31, 2026.

This week, Belkin is sending out a final reminder to affected Wemo users. The company once again highlights, however, that if your Wemo accessory is set up for use with HomeKit or Thread, it will continue to work beyond the January 31 deadline:

We’re reaching out with a final reminder that support for select Wemo products in the Wemo app will end in one week on January 31, 2026. After this date, the Wemo app and cloud-based features such as remote access and voice assistant integrations will no longer function. If your Wemo product is set up for use with Apple HomeKit, it will continue to function with Apple HomeKit after January 31, 2026. If your Wemo product works with Thread, it will continue to function with Thread after January 31, 2026.

Here are the Thread-based Wemo devices not impacted by the shutdown:

WLS0503Wemo Smart Light Switch 3-Way
WSC010Wemo Stage Smart Scene Controller

Finally, Belkin says that if your Wemo product is still under warranty on or after January 31, 2026, you “may be eligible for a partial refund.” You can learn more on Belkin’s website.
