Spotify upgrades lyrics support with three new features

Spotify has announced three big updates rolling out to its lyrics feature. The company says that lyric translations are now available worldwide. It’s also rolling out support for offline lyrics, plus an updated design for previewing lyrics right on the Now Playing view in the Spotify app.

Apple Music added support for offline lyrics in iOS 26.2 last December, so Spotify is playing catch up here. When you download a song for offline lyrics, lyrics will automatically be saved too. Spotify says that offline lyrics are rolling out around the world for Premium users.

Spotify is also expanding its lyrics translation feature, which was available in 25 markets last year. As of today, Spotify is rolling that feature out worldwide for Free and Premium users.

For tracks with translations available, tap the translate icon on the lyrics card to view the translation underneath the original lyrics. Translations will appear based on your device’s language, and you can easily switch back to the original lyrics at any time.

Apple Music added lyrics translation support in iOS 26 as well as a lyrics pronunciation feature.

Finally, Spotify has announced a new lyric previews design, which lets you see lyrics directly below the album art on the Now Playing screen:

With lyric previews, the words now appear directly beneath the album artwork or short Canvas clip as a song plays. Early testing suggests this new layout makes it easier to engage with lyrics and can help listeners return to songs they discovered. You can still share your favorite lines directly to social platforms from the Now Playing view.

Spotify notes that you can disable the feature at anytime by tapping the three-dot menu and selecting “Lyrics Off.”
