Qobuz launches new CarPlay app, Siri integration

Qobuz, a popular hi-res music streaming service, is out with an all-new CarPlay app this week. The company touts that new CarPlay app offers a “a more robust and streamlined listening experience.”

For those unfamiliar, Qobuz is a streaming music service that focuses on high-quality, lossless audio playback. It’s often seen as an alternative to services like Apple Music and Spotify for listeners who care about sound quality and downloadable high-resolution music.

In a blog post this week, Qobuz announced its new CarPlay app, which features an interface that is “sleeker, more intuitive, and far more powerful” than before.

  • Toggle shuffle mode for any selection.
  • Directly access full albums during playback.
  • Explore expert editorial recommendations via the Discover tab.
  • Filter your content by genre.
  • Add albums to your Favorites with a single tap.
  • Sort your collection alphabetically.

Qobuz also now integrates with Siri using SiriKit audio APIs from Apple, which were first introduced with iOS 13 in 2019. For example, you can now say, “Hey Siri, play Coldplay on Qobuz” to begin playback using just your voice.

The Qobuz app is available as a free download on the App Store. The service offers a downloadable music store as well as streaming music monthly subscriptions for $12.99 per month.
