Philips Hue lights enhanced with immersive SpatialAware feature, now available

In January, we learned about an upcoming Philips Hue mode called SpatialAware. As of today, the “more natural and immersive” smart lighting feature has arrived. Philips Hue video doorbell owners also have two new features ready for action.

SpatialAware requires Hue lighting scenes to be remastered

The new SpatialAware mode is now available as part of today’s Philips Hue iPhone and iPad app update. SpatialAware lets you “scan your room and let the app intelligently distribute Scene Gallery Scenes across your room for a more natural and immersive feel,” per the latest app release notes.

Lighting scenes need to be updated to support the immersive lighting mode. To start, half of the available lighting scenes have been remastered for SpatialAware.

The new Philips Hue Bridge Pro is required to power SpatialAware lighting scenes. Scanning a room usually takes less than 10 minutes, according to the company.

The feature works on phones with and without LiDAR. You can learn more about SpatialAware here.

New Hue video doorbell features arrive

The latest app update also includes two Hue ecosystem features related to Hue video doorbells:

  • Now, when someone rings the Hue video doorbell, you can get a simulated video call, respond, and check to see who is at your door.
  • you can now select pre-recorded responses to play automatically when you can’t answer the door.

Sounds like a great way to see hue is at the door. Sorry, no one asked for hue-mor.

Anyway, you can download the latest Philips Hue iPhone and iPad app to unlock new SpatialAware and Hue video doorbell features.

The Philips Hue Bridge Pro is sold as a standalone upgrade or as part of a bundle with Philips Hue smart lights.

Philips Hue has long been one of the best Apple Home products with Siri control, Home app automations, and much more.
