AirPods Pro 3 and more just got new firmware release in beta

Apple has released new AirPods beta firmware today for developers and public beta testers. It’s available for AirPods Pro 3 and select other models. Here are the details.

New beta firmware available for AirPods models with H2 chip

Ahead of iOS 27’s launch next month, Apple continues preparing new AirPods firmware that’s expected to ship alongside the new iPhone release.

The latest beta firmware build debuting today is 9A5347a. It’s rolling out for the following models, all of which feature an H2 chip:

  • AirPods Pro 3
  • AirPods Pro 2
  • AirPods 4
  • AirPods Max 2

Apple’s last beta firmware arrived just two weeks ago, and carried build number 9A5336b.

If you’re not yet running AirPods beta firmware, you can opt in via the AirPods settings screen.

When iOS 27 arrives, it will offer AirPods users several new features—including a couple that are exclusive to AirPods Pro 3.

Today’s firmware release includes support for those additions, as well as other potential changes Apple has in store for AirPods. It’s possible the company will unveil some surprise new AirPods features at its September event.

Last year, Apple announced a new Live Translation feature for AirPods at the September event, and the year before it launched new Hearing Health features.
