If Apple’s AI suggestions in Messages annoys you, there’s a solution coming

The current beta of iOS 27.2 includes a Siri AI “suggested actions” feature in the Messages app that some will consider useful and others find annoying.

A developer who has found a number of unannounced features has discovered that Apple is seeking to keep everyone happy with a new set of options …

Suggested Actions in Messages

Suggested Actions were present in the initial iOS 27 beta, but Apple later pulled the feature after complaints that some of the suggestions were rather random. It subsequently returned in the beta of iOS 27.2. Here’s how Apple describes it:

Messages offers one-tap suggestions based on the context of users’ conversations, making it easier than ever to get things done, such as creating a reminder or a note. For example, if someone asks for photos, Messages can also help users find the right ones, recognizing keywords, locations, and people in their library to find the best options.

In the first example shown above, a group message chat contains a request for some shopping and to bring something left behind. The Messages app offers one-tap options to Add to Reminders and Add to Notes. In the second example, someone asks for specific photos to be shared, and the Messages app offers a button which leads directly to a search for matching photos.

Two ways to hide unwanted suggestions

Leaker pdfu found new controls in iOS 27.2 beta 3 to selectively toggle off unwanted suggestions.

These allow suggestions to be toggled off by category, or you can let Siri AI monitor which ones you do and don’t use, and have it automatically hide the categories you haven’t used in the last 30 days.

These options aren’t yet live in the beta, but we can likely expect to see them soon.

9to5Mac’s Take

I’m certainly one of those who found many of them more annoying than useful, while I know others who are big fans, so this change ought to keep everyone happy.
