iOS 27.2 release date: When to expect new iPhone features

iOS 27.2 is coming surprisingly soon. iOS 27.1 will focus on iPhone Duo changes only, so new features for everyone else will arrive in iOS 27.2. Here’s when to expect the update’s release.

iOS 27.2 confirmed to launch in October, likely late in the month

Apple is currently beta testing iOS 27.2, and has been for several weeks now. It’s being tested much sooner than a x.2 release normally would, but for good reason.

iPhone Duo launches October 23 running iOS 27.1. And all indications are that no other iPhones will get that update, instead jumping straight to 27.2.

By keeping iOS 27.1 exclusive to iPhone Duo, Apple can keep more details of the software experience under wraps by not potentially exposing them during a beta process. That’s why iOS 27.2 is currently in beta instead.

When will iOS 27.2 launch? We know it is coming in October.

Last month when iOS 27 debuted, Apple said that Siri AI would add support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish “next month.”

Those new Siri languages are included in iOS 27.2, thus confirming an October release. Additional new features coming with iOS 27.2 include:

Historically, Apple has shipped its first feature update after a major new OS version in late October, and that’s what we’re expecting this year too. The week of October 26 is the most likely launch window.

iOS 27.2 could always arrive slightly sooner, especially if new hardware introduced next week ships with it pre-installed. But the rumored Home products likely won’t ship right away. Instead, the first orders could deliver during that final week in October, right when iOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, and HomePod 27.2 all ship too.
