Apple’s M5 MacBook Pro is coming soon. There’s been a lot of back and forth regarding when exactly it will launch, but here’s the latest M5 MacBook Pro update.
M5 MacBook Pro could still launch later this month
Over the past couple of years, Apple has launched new MacBook Pros around the same time: in late October.
The M3 MacBook Pro debuted at the ‘Scary Fast’ event on October 30, while the M4 model was unveiled during the final day of a multi-day Mac launch rollout. That day also happened to be October 30.
It’s understandable, then, that the M5 MacBook Pro has been expected to arrive this month.
For a while, rumors indicated that it would indeed launch this fall—right on schedule.
But back in July, Mark Gurman at Bloomberg followed by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo both indicated an early 2026 release might be in the cards instead.
Now months later, Gurman has consistently left open the possibility of a fall launch while also saying early 2026 might be Apple’s plan.
Here’s what he reported just a few days ago:
Apple is nearing mass production of its next MacBook Pros (code-named J714 and J716), MacBook Airs (J813 and J815) and two new Mac monitors (J427 and J527), I’m told. These devices are still slated for release between the end of this year and the first quarter of next year, but it’s exciting to know these are nearing a key stage.
Despite October already being upon us, it sounds like a launch later this month is still very possible.
Adding fuel to the fire, the FCC recently leaked the M5 MacBook Pro’s existence alongside two other products that are rumored to debut soon: the M5 iPad Pro and Vision Pro 2.
October reveal with delayed availability possible, otherwise early 2026 is likely

Whether it hosts a full-blown October event, or repeats last fall’s strategy of multi-day smaller launches, Apple is expected to unveil five or more new products in the weeks ahead.
Based on Apple’s history with product launches, there are two most likely possibilities:
- Either the M5 MacBook Pro will launch later this month
- Or it will be held until early 2026
Apple is unlikely to announce some new products in October, then the M5 MacBook Pro in November or December.
Obviously anything is possible, but that would be a highly unusual move for the company.
The M5 MacBook Pro could, however, be announced this month even if it doesn’t ship until later in the year.
But if there’s no introduction in October, then we’re unlikely to see the product at all until early 2026.
