Cash App launches a payment wand for when Apple Pay just isn’t magical enough

No, it’s not an April Fools’ Day gag in June as far as we can tell. Cash App has launched a tap-and-pay magic wand keychain accessory for contactless payments.

The new, limited edition accessory is perfect for those times when you just want to use contactless payments, but tapping with your iPhone or Apple Watch just isn’t magical enough anymore.

The first-edition Cash App Tagthe pearlescent Cash App Wandis now available for Cash App Card holders to purchase in the app, while supplies last.

The fine folks behind Cash App envision the Cash App Wand as having actual utility beyond the initial novelty.

Cash App Tags were built for on-the-go payments and also shine in situations where phones aren’t allowed or cumbersome to pull out, from paying for food at a venue that’s phone-free, to ordering merch at a music festival without digging through a bag for a card.

Paying with a magic wand is just the first new payment method Cash App has dreamed up, they say.

“In the coming weeks, the brand will drop limited runs of new Cash App Tag designs to Cash App Card holders ahead of general availability later this summer,” they add.

The Cash App Wand itself will run you $25 upfront. You can learn more about the quirky product here. Cash App for iPhone is available on the App Store, no wand required.
