Apps and updates: Mule Radio, Sonic the HedgeHog 4 Ep. 11, The Daily, and more

A few of the most noteworthy apps in the iOS ecosystem either landed on the App Store recently or received much-welcomed updates, such as the launch of Mule Radio, CNNMoney, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II, and LA Clippers, or performance enhancements for Official UEFA EURO 2012 and The Daily.

Mule Radio: The free iPhone app released yesterday and unveiled a network of syndicated podcasts from well-known Apple enthusiasts, including Daring Fireball’s John Gruber. New episodes automatically stream to the smartphone. Other shows include “Let’s Make Mistakes” with Mike Monteiro and Katie Gillum and “Hour of Pour” with Jessie Char and Jason Permenter, as well as a slew of other programs that mix “design, culture, and all manner of excitements and screw-ups in between.” It currently has a 4.5-star rating based on 23 reviews as of press time.

CNNMoney: The free iPad app released today and allows users to “tap into the dynamic world of business and finance,” while streaming real-time changes to stocks with a built-in Watchlist and instant alerts. Business news and market analysis aggregate with the personalized news feed, which features exclusive business and finance video that lets users interact with the stories most important to them. It currently has a 5-star rating based on seven reviews as of press time.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II: This iOS app released yesterday with a $6.99 price tag, and it is compatible with both the iPhone and iPad. It follows the events of Episode 1 and features a “new and improved” engine with upgraded physics and Retina display. The app also highlights collaborative play and iOS-specific integration with Game Center connectivity, Cloud-enabled saves, and accelerometer support. It currently has a 4.5-star rating based on 192 reviews as of press time.

LA Clippers: The free iPhone app released today and boasts the “official App of the Los Angeles Clippers” tagline. Fans can access the latest news, schedules, pictures, scores, and other important Clippers content while on the go. Options for buying game tickets and interacting with other fans are also included in the sports app. Oh, and it is accessible in English, German, Northern Sami, and Spanish. It currently does not have a star rating as of press time.

Official UEFA EURO 2012: The free iPhone app updated to Version 2.0 today and now features the ability to locate UEFO EEURO 2012 stadiums. It also provides an option to follow each game coupled with live commentary. The official app essentially keeps fans up-to-date during the 14th UEFA European Football Championship, which occurs June 8 to July 1, 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, with news articles, personalized alerts, stats, photo and video galleries, and match highlights. The improved app also added various performance improvements. It currently has a 5-star rating based on seven reviews as of press time.

The Daily: The free iPad app updated to Version 1.27 today and added a slew of bug fixes for crashes and halted loading screens, increased Newsstand reliability, and disabled alerts for slow connection downloads. The Daily is the first magazine-like publication created for the iPad, and it recently became Retina optimized for the new iPad. It features seven sections, over 100 pages of content, 360-degrees graphics, and interactive elements. An in-app subscription is available for 99 cents a week or $39.99 a year, and it has a 2.5-star rating based on 332 reviews as of press time.
