iPhone 5s sales go live, with 7-10 day shipping estimates in Australia, Chinese Apple Store quoting October delivery

Update:

In the UK, the iPhone 5s has just gone on sale. Shipping estimates stand at 7-10 days. At the time of writing, all models are expected to be delivered in the first week of October.

The iPhone 5s has just gone on sale in Australia. However, as has been noted several times, supply of the 5s is extremely constrained. As a result, Apple is already quoting 7-10 day shipping estimates for the device. The prolonged availability applies to all models and all colors. 5s cases are similarly low in supply, to a similar extent, quoting 3-5 day shipping times.

Supply issues seem to apply to all countries. In the UK, O2 has announced that they will have no 5s’ in stock, but will order it for when it becomes available. Via CZ on Twitter, for the Apple Store in Hong Kong, the 5s has already lapsed into October for shipping.

The iPhone 5s becomes available in the US at 12.01 Pacific Time tonight.

Thanks Sonny Dickson.

I don’t think it’s lapsed into October, I think it started out that way! I was on the store as soon as it came back from being updated and it was already saying 7 – 10 days… I think they might be being cautious and I don’t think we should read too much into the reported supply shortages, I just think they don’t want to disappoint ;)

The Apple online store in Germany came live at 1:05 a.m. this morning with the same “7 to 10 business days” for all 5s models. I received my order confirmation at 1:09 with an estimated delivery betwen October 08 and 10. At first I wondered about the math, because 09/20 + 7 to 10 business days would mean between September 30 and October 04. But then I recalled from my earlybird iPhone 4 purchase that APPL’s 7 to 10 days refer to the time the device is handed over to the logistics carrier in China. Transportation delay explains the additional week.

I just ordered from Sprint and it looked like I would get it in 1-3 days as normal for upgrades. Then I get an email that says 3 weeks until shipment. Should have bought it online from Apple. Oh well at least I got one.
