Apple seems to be simplifying its range of accessories for its older iPhones ahead of the iPhone 6 launch on Friday. As shown above, Apple has removed every color of iPhone 5s case apart from black from its website. Although it is strange for Apple to reduce its potential for accessory sales (given that it still sells the iPhone 5s for only $99 on contract and many 5/5s models are out in the world), it is seemingly focusing on its new range of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus leather and silicone cases instead.
Apple did not offer plastic case options last year, although they appear to have proved popular. iPhone 6 cases are now backordered for several weeks. For iPhone 5s owners, it may be possible to find discounted cases at other retailers. AT&T currently has the color (RED) leather case on a 50% clearance sale, for instance.

i absolutely loved the leather case on my 5s. I think the one for the 6 looks terrible. Leaving the bottom completely open looks like a cheap snap on case.
I’m actually just the opposite. The brown case I have for my iPhone 5s has been a big disappointment because it looked “dirty” and soiled after a week or so of use, and most every dock could not work with the bottom so greatly covered.
I’d say Apple has done this because black doesn’t show the soil (most new iPhone 6 cases show darker colors(, and the bottom opening is in response to complaints that even its own dock couldn’t house the iPhone when its case was in place.

I just went on Apple.com after reading this and ordered a black leather iPhone 6 Plus case, which appears to be delivering (Sept. 26th) before my iPhone will.
Well, Apple’s liss is a 3rd party accessory vendor’s opportunity.

The reason is quite simple: Apple needs to make room on their shelves for all these shiny new apple watch bands and accessories.

Aside from the black option, it seems like many of the colors got worn very easily.
