China Unicom and China Telecom announced today that they will start selling the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 to customers starting March 27. This is the first time the carriers, two of the top three largest in the country, will offer customers in China the Wi-Fi + Cellular models of Apple’s latest generation tablets.
Both China Unicom and China Telecom released press releases today to announce the news.
The iPads will include support for the necessary TD-LTE and FDD-LTE standards to run on the Chinese carriers and also include support for other cellular standards, including DC-HSDPA, HSPA+, in the same model. Apple first started selling the iPads through its own stores in China back in December.
Retail stores for both China Unicom and China Telecom will be selling the iPads starting March 27 and customers can alternatively pick them up through Apple’s own online and retail stores.
