Slice Intelligence, which earlier estimated first-day US Apple Watch pre-orders at just under a million, said that the number has now reached 1.7M, and that 376,000 of them have shipped – around 22% of pre-orders. KGI has estimated worldwide shipments of 631,000 in Q1, with Q2 shipments expected to hit 3.8M.
Slice gathers its data by scanning the email inboxes of more than two million participating online shoppers and extrapolating its numbers from there. Of those panel members who ordered an Apple Watch, 22% of them were given a shipping date of Friday to Sunday inclusive …
The company also reported that 33% of customers have been given a shipping date in April, 28% in May and just 1% in June. However, a full 38% of those ordering the watch in the US have not yet been given a shipping estimate.
We’re hearing from a number of readers who were originally given June dates that these have now been brought forward to May. Anecdotally, it appears that the silver Sports watch with white band has greatest availability, while the gray Sports watch with black band seems to have the worst.
We should hear first weekend pre-order numbers from Apple in its quarterly earnings call later today.

So they shipped 22% in 2 mins? Cause I ordered mine 3 mins after release and still don’t have it =(
I’m in the same boat, Joel. Been waiting since 1203AM on 4/10 and still in “Processing Items” here in Los Angeles…
Same here guys, Had my order in as soon as the Apple Store came online for us east coast folks, for me: 4/10 3:06AM and still “Processing Items” in Florida
Me too. Wish i went with the silver now instead.
It appears that it depends on specific model of watch ordered, so it is worth saying what model you ordered in posts like this.
The apparent proportion of orders for space gray Sports will have caught them by surprise, and can be expected to be the last orders to all be filled.
still “Processing items” but changed ” available to ship 4-6 weeks”. Last week, it was shown just in June. Here is Texas.
Ben, do we know anything about this Slice Intelligence? I’d never heard of them prior to Watch. I don’t remember similar analysis from them with other Apple products.
They are a credible company dealing in large volumes of data. That doesn’t mean their analysis in this case is perfect, but as estimates go, it should be more reliable than most.
I think their information is useful, but it is worth pointing out that it is only gathered from a statistically small number of watch orders, so should just be treated as a trend indicator.
Yep, exactly this.
This seems a little dubious. 38% have no shipping estimate, I haven’t heard of any one not actually having an estimate. Even if you don’t have a shipping window a lot seem to have June as a shipping estimate and those only account for 1% according to Slice. I am guessing their search algorithm isn’t as good as they think it is.
The 1% figure for June ship dates seems awfully low to me.
Hi Apple, I’m from Germany and I preordered my Apple Sport 42 mm with green Wrist very early on Friday 10th of April immidiatly when the Store reopened after a short break. I’m very happy that you have cancelled all June deliveries from the First preorders. When can I count with my delivery? I wait now with less patient. Could I get delivered my Watch till 8th of May? I look forward to your answer, and to get my Watch finallly delivered. Thanks a lot.
I had a June ship date on a Sport Space Gray with a black band. Today it was revised to May 29- june 11. Progress!
To be fair, they are going to sell more Apple watches in the 1st 6 months of production than every single other manufacturer out there… So while it may not be what most people have come to expect, look at the situation when companies over order stock on new items and then have a foresail as they didn’t work, it was an unchain quantity as far as apple was concerned, and they played it reasonably safe by not having much stock available and ramping up as soon as orders came in. This kept the availability slightly harder to know as they really could not of estimated how many would order…
It also means that it is hard to get hold of, which makes it even more desirable i guess… the plus side, is it looks good for investors as everyone wants one…
My order is estimated from May 13-27 and looking at this it’s making it look like the 27th will be the time I get it. Hope that’s not the case. Ordered mine 11min after preorders started
Ordered a Apple Watch Stainless Steel with black sport band at 2:56am EDT. Got a 4-6 week estimate of May 13-27. Same for a friend of mine with same exact watch.
Funny thing is you would think they would be ramping up Edition watch production to satisfy those folks, but on the Apple Store they still have a June estimated ship date.
So if Apple isn’t trying to get those watches done first, then i think we all have a long time to wait. Unless they decide to add additional manufacturing facilities, then they just can’t get them done soon enough.
another friend of mine just bought a black sport with black band on Craigslist for $900! Demand is high, supply is low.
The above numbers are definitely off because 1% having June dates can not be close to correct. If you go on the Apple Store now they are giving June for all models.
for real what are preorders for if we don’t get them on launch date and have to wait I order 2 at 3:04 est with a est on May 13-27 and still no charge or confirmation with Apple it’s getting annoying know that Apple slacked . they should have been ready and they weren’t !
Anyone seen early movement on the 42mm Apple Watch with Milanese band? Ordered April 10 at 3am in SoCal with a May 13-27 window. Still ‘processing’ but hoping to get it early in light of Apple’s email blast announcing movement in ship dates..
Much better way to track Apple Watch shipments together, if folk who have their watches put in their arrival dates and others their estimates this site will give a smart estimate of when you’ll get yours! wheresmywatch.com
Waiting since pre-order night – no change in status May 13-27 and guess what ? Ordered in first 3 minutes of pre-order night. and did not get the launch day shipment instead May ! for Sport 38mm SO frustrated – Apple reps have no clue whatsoever when you call they basically just check the status the same as you can yourself and no-one has any idea as to why others whom ordered even after the first night already have their units and meanwhile we all wait. Reading stories of manufacturing problems with tactic-engine,display,bands etc. Not encouraging news at all.It does not look good while Apples site says “The watch is here” ! I think NOT !
