Following this week’s fourth developer preview of OS X 10.11, Apple has released the second El Capitan public beta to testers. The OS X public beta allows Mac users to test the new features included in the operating system update and submit feedback ahead of its public release later this fall. Participation in Apple’s public beta program does not require a paid developer member account. OS X 10.11 public beta 2 includes the same changes as yesterday’s OS X 10.11 beta 4 release.
OS X 10.11 El Capitan was first unveiled in June and introduces several feature and performance enhancements to the Mac.
For instance, the Mac’s full screen feature adds support for running two full screen apps side-by-side while Spaces and Mission Control have been refined. Spotlight search includes additional sources for finding data and supports natural languages inquiries. System apps including Mail and Safari receive feature improvements like better full screen multitasking and the ability to pin tabs when browsing. The Notes app gets completely overhauled with new rich media features and more.

Reblogged this on checker92 and commented:

“Available Updates have Changed” – “Show Details” – I’ve downloaded it three times and when I press restart this is what it keeps asking!
Same issue for me
I had to restart my MacBook Pro and then restart the download. After it restarted it showed that it had only downloaded about 350 MB of the 1.94 GB. After that it was able to download the rest of the file and install.
Restart your computer and press update again and it should work.
Try quitting the app store app. And open it again. This works for me
Interesting that they’re speeding up the public betas as well. Not only are they opening it up with anyone who wants to join but they’re now appearing to seed it every two week. This is great news.
Hopefully, they’ve scaled up their engineering resources as well on iOS, OS X, and watchOS.
iOS Public Beta 2 is out as well
I had to downgrade from El Capital Public Beta 1…too buggy and my Airdrop wouldn’t work. However, I can’t wait until it’s more stable, it was awesome!
After the above issues and a restart the I was asked to login using my Apple ID, that’s running for 30 min’s now…
Skip the iCloud login, that’s a known bug. You’re not supposed to log in and iCloud will remain logged in after you skip it.
How are people liking it so far?! I’m hoping it’s much much cleaner now!
This update squashed all of the bugs that I discovered in the previous build, including the irritating overlap of text in the Notes sidebar, as well as the odd positioning of the Spotlight search bar.
Have you tried AirDrop at all? It wasn’t working for me on PB1. Also, I just noticed it was a bit more laggy…
In fullscreen Safari, when your cursor touches the left edge of the screen the reading list side bar shows up and it’s THE most annoying thing ever, it practically interferes with every website I go to..
I can’t download updating. About 108 Mb are downloaded and stops, reset doesn’t help ((
Solved? Boot in Safe mode if not, sometimes seems to help.
I am running Public Beta 1 and I still do not see the possibility to update to Beta 2 the App Store. I have tried to restart the App Store and computer and even reinstall Beta 1, but it does not help. Do you have any idea how to solve it?
Hi Szymon, I am having the same issue. Did you sort this out?
