Apple made the courageous decision to remove the headphone jack with its new iPhone 7, but that won’t stop third-party accessory companies from thinking of every way imaginable to bring the port back. Today, a new Indiegogo campaign went live for the Fuze Case, which promises to bring the 3.5mm headphone jack back to the iPhone.
Essentially what the Fuze Case does is take the Lightning to 3.5mm adapter that Apple includes with the purchase of the iPhone 7 and build it directly into the case. Fuze says that this solution offers “no dongles, no adapters, no problems.”

In addition to bringing back the headphone jack, the case also provides additional battery life to both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. For iPhone 7 users, the case adds 2,400mAh of battery life, while the iPhone 7 Plus case adds on 3,600mAh of power. Fuze also touts that the case is made out of TPU and ABS plastics, which is the same material used in Apple’s own Lightning battery cases.
The Fuze case is available for $49 to “super” early bird Indiegogo backers and will increase to $59 for early bird backers. The case will retail for $69. The company hopes to begin shipping them in December of this year.
The decision to make a case that brings back the headphone jack will likely be met with mixed reactions. Some will appreciate the ability to be able to easily charge their phone and listen to music at the same time. Others, however, will see the case as a hidnerence to moving past the dated 3.5mm headphone jack technology.
One thing to keep in mind is that, with this case, the water-resistant capabilities of the iPhone 7 will be moot, so no longer will you be able to use your phone in the harsher elements.
