Apple Watch and AirPods to be excluded from Trump’s China tariffs

The United States is said to exclude Apple Watch and AirPods from its next round of tariffs that will be imposed on Chinese goods.

As Bloomberg reports, the U.S. government is expected to release its final list on Monday, revealing as much as $200 billion in Chinese products that will see a 10 percent tariff.

Notably, the Apple Watch and AirPods, along with several other smartwatches and fitness trackers made by other brands were not seen on the list. It’s unclear if this applies to all generations of Apple Watch, or only the Apple Watch Series 4.

Interestingly enough, the now-discontinued Time Capsule is shown on the list, as well as Apple’s HomePod and Beats’ line of headphones.

Apple seems to be walking in a gray area with the U.S. Government. Apple CEO Tim Cook earlier this year met and dined with the President Trump and his wife, hoping that “calm heads prevail”. Cook says that the new tariffs will only hurt the economy, raise prices in the U.S., and more.

Apple and other companies have written letters and comments opposing the new tariffs.
