Here are all the Apple Intelligence features coming in iOS 18.2 or later

Apple Intelligence is launching later this month on supported devices. But only certain AI features will be available in iOS 18.1. Some of the most highly anticipated capabilities won’t arrive until future updates. Here’s everything that’s coming to Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.2 or later.

Apple has announced a variety of AI enhancements that will release over the course of the next six months or so. Here’s what’s coming.

  • Genmoji: Create your own custom emoji with a quick description.
  • ChatGPT integration: Receive ChatGPT smarts via Siri, or through the new AI writing tools.
  • Image Playground: A powerful tool to generate original images in a variety of fun styles.
  • Siri and personal context: Make requests that reference personal data like a meeting you had, a book recommendation received, and more.
  • Visual intelligence: Use Camera Control on the iPhone 16 to identify real-world objects and gain key information.
  • Mail inbox categories: Mail will automatically sort messages into several different categories based on their contents.
  • Siri’s new actions: Hundreds of new in-app and cross-app actions will be enabled for Siri.
  • Siri on-screen awareness: Reference info on your screen, and Siri will be able to act on it.
  • Image Wand: Use the Apple Pencil or your fingers in Notes to generate images based on existing content.

More languages on the way

In iOS 18.1, Apple Intelligence will only be supported in US English. But in iOS 18.2, localized English will be supported for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK. Then in 2025, a variety of new languages will be supported.

Wrap-up: Apple Intelligence coming later

Some users may be disappointed to find their most anticipated Apple Intelligence features not available in iOS 18.1. Fortunately, Apple plans a swift rollout of the above features. We should see new AI drops every couple months or so. Even sooner if you run beta software.
