Big Foot has officially been spotted … among other new emoji proposals

We’re still awaiting that wacky pack of emoji characters previewed in May. And we probably won’t actually see the shovel and exhausted face appear next to the fingerprint and purple splat until iOS 18.4 next spring. But still, who doesn’t love a new glimpse at proposed emoji characters — even if they’re part of the 2025/2026 set?

The emoji aficionados at Emojipedia have published a new piece that includes descriptions and sample images. Among the 2025 Class of Great New Emoji? Emojipedia presents these descriptions:

  • A distorted face, for which the sample design has been taken from the Emoji Kitchen
  • A “fight cloud” symbol, as seen in cartoons and comic books
  • A ballet dancer (shown above with the dark skin tone modifier)
  • An apple core
  • An orca, also known as a “killer whale”
  • A “hairy creature” inspired by various global “Big Foot”-esque cryptids
  • A trombone
  • A landslide
  • A treasure chest

Check out the full piece on Emojipedia for the complete rundown of over 160 new emoji character proposals being considered for approval next year. Realistically, we should expect these as part of iOS 19 in late 2025 or early 2026 — assuming they’re all approved next fall.

In the meantime, the magic of Apple Intelligence has already brought us custom emoji generation on iOS 18.2 beta. While some of us prefer to have our emoji dished out by the half dozen, the emoji generation feature will likely be the best party trick of Apple Intelligence soon enough.
