I love the iPhone Air, but two things stopped me from committing [Video]

The iPhone Air is the most exciting iPhone Apple has released since the iPhone X. It’s thin, lightweight, and amazingly designed, and for the first time in a long time, it’s different. Apple’s iPhone lineup has felt increasingly redundant. The iPhones have all looked and felt the same since the iPhone 11 lineup. So, excuse the pun, but the iPhone Air has been a genuine breath of fresh air. It prioritizes feel, design, and experience over chasing specs, and that is what makes it special. I put my main SIM card in the iPhone Air and, initially, I loved it. But after living with it day in and day out, two issues slowly but consistently stopped me from fully committing.

I used a lot of tech products in 2025, these were my favorite

As 2025 comes to a close, I wanted to take a step back and look at the tech that I used and actually made a difference in my day-to-day. This is not going to be a list based solely on specs, but rather a personal rundown of the gear that I gravitated towards throughout the year because it was either very useful or just enjoyable to use. I wanted to shed some light on a few non-Apple products, but of course, I also chose my Apple product of the year at the very end. These are my favorite tech items of 2025!

Why iPhone Air feels removed from time

When Apple released the radically new iPhone X in 2017, it marked the beginning of a years long march into a new era of iPhone design. A year later, iPhone XR replaced the legacy iPhone 8, bringing a corner to corner display, Face ID, and the gesture based experience that largely retired big bezels and the Home button.

Eight years later, iPhone Air stands as the closest thing Apple has delivered to another iPhone X moment. The leap is narrower in scope, but no less intentional. Where iPhone X reset expectations across the entire lineup, iPhone Air represents a deliberate divergence. Its ultra thin design favors a futuristic feel over feature maximalism, carving out a distinct place alongside Apple’s more traditional models.

iPhone Air is also expected to remain on the market longer than iPhone X did. Apple replaced iPhone X with iPhone XS in less than a year. iPhone Air, on the other hand, has a looser relationship with time.

The iPhone Air 2 seems likely to be way more successful than the original

The iPhone Air 2 seems likely to be way more successful than the original (shown)

The iPhone Air appears to have been one of the least successful iPhones ever, but it seems that hasn’t discouraged Apple from trying again in 2027 with an iPhone Air 2.

The latest report suggests that the company may fix the two biggest problems with the device, and if accurate, I would expect the 2nd-gen model to be significantly more popular …

Best iPhone Air power bank: Apple MagSafe Battery vs Anker Nano

Update: The Anker Nano is 30% off right now on Amazon for Black Friday. Review below.

The iPhone Air has surprisingly good battery life for users with light-to-medium daily usage habits. But if you are going to be away from a charger for a long time, especially going travelling like on a plane, you’ll probably want to carry some extra juice with you.

Apple has made its custom MagSafe Battery for iPhone Air, that fits precisely beneath the camera plateau on the back of the phone. But another big competitor in this space is Anker, with the Anker Nano Power Bank in a similar size promising 5,000 mAH capacity at half the price of Apple’s offering. But how much extra battery life should you actually expect to get from these power banks, and which is best?

Should a second iPhone Air 2 camera be telephoto or ultrawide? [Poll]

Should a second iPhone Air 2 camera be telephoto or ultrawide?| Render of an iPhone Air with two cameras

There’s been a whole flurry of rumors about a 2nd-gen iPhone Air lately. It’s getting a second camera; it’s been delayed to allow time to add this; it’s been indefinitely delayed due to the original model proving unpopular; it probably won’t be getting a second camera but will be getting an updated chip.

Whenever there are this many conflicting reports, the smart money is on nobody outside Apple really knowing what’s going on. But if the second camera report is true, that leaves another question to be answered …

Apple just delayed the iPhone Air 2, report says

Update, November 11: The Information now reports that Apple is delaying the iPhone Air 2 in order to “work on a redesign of the device and make it more appealing to consumers.” This reportedly includes adding a second camera.

“Some Apple engineers are hoping to release a redesigned version with a second camera lens in spring 2027 alongside existing plans to release the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e at that time,” the report says. However, it is “still too early to tell” whether that is actually doable.

More here.

Apple is reportedly delaying the launch of the iPhone Air 2. The Information reports that Apple recently “notified engineers and suppliers that they were taking the next iPhone Air off the schedule without providing a new release date.” The report cites “three people involved in the project.”
