iOS 18.1: Here are all the iPhone models compatible with the new update

Apple’s big iOS 18.1 update is almost here, bringing the first wave of Apple Intelligence features plus a lot more. Here are all the iPhone models compatible with the new update.

This is the full list of iPhone models compatible with iOS 18.1.

If your device is not on this list, unfortunately you won’t be able to install the latest iPhone update.

The good news, though, is that iOS 18.1 supports every iPhone that was compatible with last month’s iOS 18 release. So if you’re running iOS 18, you have nothing to worry about with iOS 18.1.

However, unlike most software releases, there is a big compatibility asterisk worth noting with iOS 18.1.

Apple Intelligence features only coming to select iPhones

iOS 18.1 is a big feature update for the iPhone, but the majority of its best features are part of Apple Intelligence. And only the following iPhones will get those features:

• iPhone 16
• iPhone 16 Plus
• iPhone 16 Pro
• iPhone 16 Pro Max
• iPhone 15 Pro
• iPhone 15 Pro Max

That’s right, only six iPhone models are on Apple’s list of AI-compatible devices.

There are still plenty of nice improvements in iOS 18.1 besides Apple Intelligence, like call recording, Control Center upgrades, iPhone Mirroring drag and drop, and more.

But that said, the focus of this release is clearly AI, so iOS 18.1 has a lot more to offer if you own a supported Apple Intelligence device.

1. All iPhones that were compatible with iOS 18 can also install iOS 18.1.
2. But only the most modern iPhones will gain access to Apple Intelligence features.
