The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity announced today that U2’s Bono is set to join Apple SVP of Design Jony Ive for a conversation about the (RED) organization. The interview will be moderated by Shane Smith of VICE media and will take place on June 21:

In an exclusive seminar for Cannes Lions delegates, Bono will join Jonathan Ive, Apple Inc’s Senior Vice President of Design, in a discussion moderated by Shane Smith, CEO and Founder of VICE Media, and introduced by Anne Finucane, Global Strategy and Marketing Officer of (RED) partner, Bank of America. Bono and Jonathan Ive will discuss the success of (RED) and it’s unique collaboration with global partners – including Apple, (RED)’s largest corporate contributor to the AIDS fight – and the record-breaking (RED) Design Auction curated by Jonathan Ive and Marc Newson.

Apple has been one of the most active partners in the charity organization co-founded by Bono. Back in April, the organization announced Apple’s contributions to the charity have reached $70 million through sales of special red versions of iOS devices and accessories. That $70 million contributed by Apple is part of the total $250 million the charity has raised in its fight against AIDS. That makes it the largest contributor out of all the many participating companies.

Last year, Jony Ive and designer friend Marc Newson participated in curating a charity auction for RED that consisted of a number of red pieces hand selected, customized, or designed from scratch. The auction raised $44 million for the the Global Fund on World AIDS Day.
