Mount your iPhone 6 inside any car with Logitech’s new Protection+ case

The overhauled design of iPhone 6 has slowed third party accessory makers to a crawl. We’ve seen a variety of docks and ultra-thin cases from smaller outfits, but name-brand companies are taking an exceptionally long time to bring iPhone 6/Plus accessories to market. Originally released for the iPhone 5/5s, Logitech has retooled its Protection+ case for iPhone 6:

Protection+ for iPhone 6 uses shock-absorbent polymers in each of the corners of the case to better absorb the the force of drops and bumps. This corner protection along with an inner TPR layer and impact channels (seen along the backside), work together to offer military-grade drop protection.

But it’s more than just a protective case. There’s a built-in metal plate on the rear of the case that enables Protection+ to seamlessly integrate with Logitech+ magnetic mounts. We had a chance to use a similar magnetic mount during our Case+ review and found that it provided a rock-solid connection.

The iPhone 6 Protection+ case is now available preorder in four different color combinations for $34.99. So far there’s no word on whether or not an iPhone 6 Plus version is in the pipeline, but don’t fret because we’ve already tracked down a couple compatible mounts. All of our other favorite iPhone 6/Plus cases can be found in this roundup.

Full announcement:

Today we’re excited to introduce the newest addition to our lineup of stylish and protective smartphone accessories, the Logitech protection [+] for iPhone 6. Featuring aslim, yet ultra-protective, outer shell, shock-absorbent corners and flexible impact channels, this case shields your smartphone from whatever the world throws at it. It’s wrapped in a soft-touch finish that feels great in your hand, and comes in four colors: gunmetal black, pacific blue, scarlet plum and winter white.

To help minimize the force of impact from bumps and drops, the Logitech protection [+] case embeds shock-absorbent polymers in all four corners of the case and features flexible impact channels. Its raised bezel also helps guard your screen’s sensitive surface. And for added assurance, the Logitech protection [+] case meets the U.S. Military drop-test standard (MIL-STD 810 G) for “rugged” devices, protecting your phone from drops up to 1.2 meters high.

Additionally, the case has a built-in hidden metal plate that enables seamless connection to all Logitech smartphone mounts, including the +trip air vent mount and +drive windshield/dashboard mount for easy one-touch mounting in the car.

I’m guessing you have no faith in Logitech’s QA department.

Use coupon code “5off-at-logi” for $5 off if you buy the mount and case together.

I’ve had a metal case with my iPhone 4 and there was all types of interference, that led to the phone not being operable. It didn’t take long before I had to remove it. That whole case was metal, so maybe this one will have a positive outcome since it looks like just a third of the back is metal. Then there’s that magnet. The idea is awesome but think Ill keep checking the comments to weigh out the differences….

I’ve been magnetically mounting my iPhone since the iPhone 4. I’ve always used Rokform though. Their cases come with a magnetic mount but they also have mounts for bikes, motorcycles, walls etc. http://www.rokform.com/iphone-6-cases/
