Chongqing Apple Store unveiled as mural removed ahead of tomorrow’s opening

exterior

We recently saw the mural Apple commissioned for one of its five new Apple Stores in China, and today the mural is down revealing the glass cylinder entrance of its Chongqing store, an apparent clone of its Shanghai store design. The store opens at 10am tomorrow.

The photos were posted on Taisy and appear to have originated from MacX. The interior of the store is very reminiscent of the spiral staircase in the iconic glass cube store on Fifth Avenue in New York (photo below) …

We can also see the continuation of Apple’s focus on art in one of the wall images visible in the background.

As always with Apple’s glass-entrance stores, the interior is deceptively large.

The store is one of five new Apple Stores being opened in China before the Chinese New Year next month, with a further 20 opening in the course of the next couple of years. The Hangzhou store opened just a week ago.

Tim Cook described China as a key market for Apple, with retail head Angela Ahrendts listing Chinese expansion as one of the three elements of her vision for the company.

Guess they don’t have any handicapped people in China. Is there an elevator?

There’s no handicapped people in any communistic country in the world. I am living in one with such history, it was completely normal for the Government to say – no, Communism is giving no “wrong” people to the world, only God does so (the other completely forbidden thing in most of the com. countries). :) :) :) However, I believe that they’ve done something to manage such cases.

There is usually an elevator in the centre of the spiral stairs, so I’d imagine that’s where it is here too.

I really like the outside staircase. Not the one inside of the store, rather the one outside. It’s spectacular how you should climb it in order to go… down! :) Really beautiful!
