DirecTV app updated w/ support for using Apple Watch as a remote

DirecTV has announced an update to its iOS app today that adds support for Apple Watch. With the DirecTV app on Apple Watch, users can play, pause, rewind, and fast forward recorded content on any connected receiver directly from their wrist.

In addition to controlling playback of content, users can also navigate throughout on-screen guide, playlists, and menus with their Apple Watch. Finally, DirecTV customers can also view titles, channels, and episode details of TV shows and movies via Apple Watch and set DVR recordings.

The update is available now via the App Store for free. DirecTV notes that the latest version of its iOS app requires HR20, H21 and above connected HD DVRs. The full release notes for the update can be seen below. You can read our full list of some of the best apps with Apple Watch support here.
